How bond Sign Locators to Foamex (SnapFix & SimpleFix)

Learn how to bond SnapFix & SimpleFix Locators to PVC foamboard (aka Foamex) for installing flat cut sign letters.

Follow these simple steps to securely bond Snapfix or Simplefix locators to your Foamex flat cut letters using Stykra 360 adhesive.

What you’ll need:

Step 1. Remove the protective film
Peel off the film from your Foamex letter.

Pro tip: Mark the locator positions on your letter during CNC machining. This allows you to create exact replacement letters in the future with perfectly matching locator positions.

Step 2. Position the locators
Place a male locator stud next to each marked location on the back of the letter to check spacing and fit.

Step 3. Apply Stykra 360 adhesive
Apply a small amount of Stykra 360 next to each locator position.

Important: Only apply adhesive to a few locations at a time and insert the locator immediately — the adhesive starts curing quickly.

Step 4. Allow initial cure time for handling
Allow 4-5 minutes for the adhesive to cure enough for safe handling.

Step 5. Wait before installation
Full bond strength is achieved after 24 hours. So we recommend waiting the full 24 hrs before installing your letters.

Why we recommend Stykra 360 for bonding locators to flat cut sign letters

Best adhesive for simplefix and snapfix locators stykra 360

We recommend using Stykra 360 adhesive for bonding both Snapfix and Simplefix locators to flat-cut letters because it combines structural strength with visual subtlety and ease of use—ideal for sign-making applications. Specifically:

  • Stykra 360 is a two-component structural MMA adhesive engineered for signage, offering a crystal-clear bond line that won’t compromise the finish of flat-cut letters or show behind transparent or coloured faces.
  • It provides excellent adhesion to diverse substrates (including nylon locators, acrylics, metals, composites) without the need for primers, simplifying the workflow when mounting male locator studs beside or on the back of Foamex letters.
  • The product achieves handling strength in just 4–5 minutes, with full curing able to withstand harsh environments (ranging from -55 °C to +125 °C), high UV exposure, salt spray and chemicals—so once the locators are bonded, the sign assembly remains strong long-term.
  • Further, its low-odour, low-exothermic formulation means there’s less risk of heat-warping sensitive materials (such as Foamex or acrylic letters) during application, and less discomfort for operators in the workshop.

In short: It’s a one-adhesive solution that ensures both the precision (clear finish, no visible glue line) and durability (strong bond, environmental resilience) required when fixing Snapfix or Simplefix locators to flat-cut letters.
